OUR FAVORITE ITEMS FOR RORY

Someone reached out to me on Instagram saying she’s about to get a dog and would love to see our favorite dog accessories for Rory. Rory admittedly doesn’t get the attention he deserves on the blog ever since Teddy’s arrival but he really is our first child! I got him when I was 22 and living at home in Connecticut before moving into New York and he turned 8 this past March. He was my most loyal sidekick throughout my twenties and now into my thirties and it’s crazy how much my life has changed in the time we’ve been together. He’s a 30-pound cockapoo, playful, lovable, and mischievous and we wouldn’t have him any other way!

The below items are our tried and true favorites over the past several years. My family’s dog Coach is 16 and still kicking (we got him when I was 14!) so we’ve inherited many of these favorites from him. I hope it’s a helpful list for those of you with pups of your own!

Needlepoint collar  //  Okay, I know this isn’t the most practical item on the list, but if you’ve read the story in this post, you know how much it means to me! You can order your own needlepoint dog collar here but I also love these if you’re looking for something less precious.

Retractable leash  //  We have a number of leashes for Rory but this retractable leash is our everyday go-to because it’s the easiest to use. You can browse all the available colors here.

Annie Selke striped dog bed  //  It should be noted that Rory sleeps either on or underneath our bed, but he and Coach both love to lounge on these Annie Selke dog beds during the day.

Amy Berry dog bed  //  Rory also has this adorable dog bed that can be ordered and customized in an array of designer fabrics.

Chinoiserie dog bowl  //  A water bowl fit for a king and a generous gift from Indigo Home Shop. Rory’s bowl is the medium size.

Burt’s Bees dog shampoo  //  We typically get Rory and Coach groomed together every six weeks but we’ve been bathing them at home with this natural shampoo for years. I love, love, love the clean smell!

Annie Selke waterless foaming shampoo  //  I got this in a press package a couple months ago and will reorder on my own once we get through this bottle because it’s such a genius product. This waterless shampoo lets you clean your dog without doing a full bath routine (major plus in Rory’s eyes) and the entire line smells so, so good.

Kong squeaky tennis balls  //  Rory’s all-time favorite toy… A new squeaky tennis ball can keep him occupied for hours!

Outward Hound snake toy  //  If you want to make your dog’s entire year, take my word for it and buy one of these extra long squeaky snake toys. Will’s mom originally found this for Rory and she’s been his favorite person ever since. They’re much harder to destroy than the average dog toy and last so much longer as a result!

Ralph Lauren dog sweater  //  I fully recognize the ridiculousness of this purchase but I’ve also never met a dog who loves to wear clothes as much as Rory does. We first received this sweater as part of a sponsored post with the brand and Rory will sniff around in our coat closet until he finds it. I know it’s over the top but had to include in case your pup is as extra as Rory is. 🙂 Rory weighs 30 pounds and wears the size XL.

Barbour dog coat  //  A new addition to Rory’s outerwear collection and a classic in any New England pup’s wardrobe! I ordered the size XL (he’s 30 pounds) but we could have gotten away with the large.

And now (more than) a few of my favorite photos with Rory over the years, just because! 🙂
