50 GIFT IDEAS FOR BABIES + TODDLERS

As a follow-up to my 50 gift ideas for her and 50 gift ideas for him, I wanted to round up some fun gift ideas for the little ones in your life! I’m certain not an expert on gifts for older toddlers or girls for that matter, so know that everything on this list is something Teddy loved as a baby, currently loves as an almost 14-month-old, or would love to open this Christmas morning. And of course I sprinkled in a few things that I love as his mom (as in I’m not sure he’d be thrilled to open new pajamas, but nothing makes my heart swell like a tiny new outfit!). If you have any additional ideas (for one-year-old boys or otherwise), I’d love to hear in the comments!

Jellycat puppy stuffed animal, $25

The sweetest and softest stuffed animals. Teddy loves this one that looks a little like our dog Rory!

Petite Plume gingham pajamas, $48

These pajamas are my favorites to dress Teddy in, especially now that he’s running all over the place and needs bare feet in the house.

Tomorrow I’ll Be Brave board book, $10

My absolute, number one, most favorite book to read to Teddy. We’ve read it easily hundreds of times and I still love the sweet message!

Tomorrow I’ll Be Kind board book, $10

Another heartwarming read from the same author. The text and illustrations are darling!

Ugg booties, $49.95

Easy on, easy off, and cozy as can be.

Amazon stacking cups, $3.99

A friend gave us these as part of a baby shower gift and it’s actually astonishing how much Teddy loved something so simple. I don’t know if it’s the bright colors but he would easily spend a half hour pulling them apart, knocking them over, banging them against each other…

Janie and Jack faux fur one-piece, $79 (20% off through November 24 with code Mackenzie20)

The coziest get-up for a newborn or infant.

Baby Einstein light bar activity station, $14.99

Teddy played with this every day from 3-9 months. It’s great for making tummy time a little more interesting! It plays music that’s less annoying than other toys and calls out animals and colors in English, French, and Spanish.

Ralph Lauren striped shirt, $25

A wardrobe classic at any age.

Hape first musical guitar, $40.95

I’m saving this for when Teddy’s a little bit older (it’s recommended for ages 3 and up) but how cute is this little guitar? Would be so sweet hanging on the wall of a child’s bedroom!

Etsy appliqué name pillow, $74

I get lots of questions about the appliqué name pillow in Teddy’s nursery and this Etsy shop makes the best of the best. Orders take up to 10 weeks to ship so it won’t be here in time for Christmas, but you could always print out a photo of what’s to come!

Janie and Jack shawl collar pullover, $59 (20% off through November 24 with code Mackenzie20)

One of my very favorite sweaters in Teddy’s closet.

Hunter first rain boots, $58

I ordered these in the smallest size (5) and they’re still too big for Teddy at 14 months, but I can’t wait to see him splashing through puddles in them a few months from now. Good gift idea for toddler girls too!

Lovevery play gym, $140

Hands down the best gift for a newborn or new mom. It’s definitely one of the more attractive play gyms on the market and Teddy used his every day from birth to around 7 or 8 months. I’ve gifted this to several mom friends and it gets rave reviews every time!

Corduroy board book, $5

One of my all-time favorite children’s books and one Teddy reaches for often.

Chewbeads silicone links, $13.99

Another toy whose fascination I can’t entirely explain, but we would attach these to the play gym I mentioned above or to the bar on Teddy’s stroller and he absolutely loved them. They also make good teethers if you pop one in the freezer.

Ralph Lauren baseball cap, $19.50

Teddy lived in these over the summer as added sun protection at the beach. He doesn’t always cooperate now that he’s a little older, but I swear there’s nothing sweeter than a baby in a ball cap!

Etsy personalized rollneck sweater, $48

I don’t own this exact sweater for Teddy (we received this very similar one as a gift) but I’ve ordered several items from this Etsy shop and always been impressed with the quality.

I Have A Dream, $13.40

A picture book accompanied by an abridged version of Martin Luther King’s iconic speech. The illustrations are breathtaking!

Janie and Jack suede Chelsea boots, $69 (20% off through November 24 with code Mackenzie20)

Another thing in Teddy’s closet that makes me positively giddy. See them in action here!

Hape musical wooden bench, $28.95

This is on my list for Teddy this Christmas. Anything that’s colorful and makes a lot of noise is usually a win in his book!

Ralph Lauren flag sweater, $85

A sweet patriotic staple.

On The Night You Were Born board book, $6.68

Such a sweet addition to any newborn gift.

Zutano fleece booties, $15.75

Teddy lived in these as a newborn and I just realized they come in toddler sizes too! Another good unisex gift.

Fisher-Price learning table, $39.99

A daily favorite from 6-12 months and occasionally too at almost 14 months. Lots of music, buttons, flashing lights — all the bells and whistles for a busy little one!

Pottery Barn Kids gingham hooded towel, $24.50

The cutest towels for bath time.

Parker Looks Up, $11.79

Teddy adores this book about a little girl who’s awestruck by a portrait of First Lady Michelle Obama.

Kissy Kissy striped footie pajamas, $38

The softest outfits for babies. I cried when Teddy grew out of the newborn size and promptly ordered them in every other size!

Gund singing elephant, $32.45

Great for tummy time when they’re little and dance parties as they get older. A fan favorite in our house.

Amazon play food set, $29

Teddy would get a kick out of this 32-piece food set complete with grocery basket.

Ralph Lauren quilted car coat, $95

My favorite coat of Teddy’s. I love that this year’s version has a green lining and a detachable hood!

Amazon flip phone, $6.47

Teddy gets a kick out of this phone with different ring tones and a mirrored “screen.” A no-brainer stocking stuffer!

Hape alphabet puzzle, $17.99

One of the more attractive toys in Teddy’s playroom. At this age he mostly likes to remove the letters as fast as I can put them back in, but I imagine it will be a helpful way to learn the ABCs as he gets a little older!

Jellycat teddy bear stuffed animal, $33

A cuddly friend that doubles as nursery decor until they’re interested in actually playing with it.

Oh, the Places You’ll Go!, $8.98

My cousin Sarah gave this to me as a high school graduation gift with the most beautiful note written on the inside cover and I love reading both her note and this book to Teddy. Great reminders for adults and little ones alike!

Doona trike, $249

This was Teddy’s big present for his first birthday and he loves cruising around the house and the neighborhood in it. His favorite feature for now is the cupholder on the front, but I love that it will transform into different configurations to “grow” with him as he gets older and more independent.

Elephantito driving loafers, $36

Is there anything cuter than a grown-up shoe on a tiny foot? These are darling in person — I recommend ordering one size up.

Weefarers children’s sunglasses, $24.99

These tiny wayfarers melt my heart. Teddy’s not always thrilled about them, but they come with a strap to help keep them in place. A sweet stocking stuffer idea!

Patagonia jacket, $79

A machine washable jacket that’s perfect under a heavier winter coat if you live somewhere chilly.

A is for Awesome: 23 Iconic Women Who Changed The World board book, $6.22

Teddy often picks out this board book that features fun illustrations and tidbits about rockstar women from Beyoncé to Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Sweetooth ice cream teether, $15.99

We received this ice cream teether as a gift from a family friend and it instantly became Teddy’s favorite. Stocking stuffer alert!

Petite Plume navy pajamas with white piping, $48

I love these pajamas so much I had to include them twice. This navy with white piping combo is also available in men’s, women’s, and a children’s two-piece set if you want to do a family matching moment!

Sulwe, $12.66

A heartwarming story of a little girl who learns to love her skin color. We read this almost every day in our house — Teddy is obsessed!

Janod wooden grocery stand, $109.99

Teddy would love all the wooden fruits and veggies in this wooden grocery stand!

Janie and Jack wingtip sneakers, $59 (20% off through November 24 with code Mackenzie20)

A cute new pair of kicks for the park or playground.

Kiddie Design toddler helper stool, $136

I just ordered this for Teddy after seeing it on Julia’s Instagram — Teddy’s always wanting to be picked up while we’re trying to prepare dinner and I think he’ll love being a part of the action at counter height (away from the stove of course) while we cook.

Skip Hop jumper, $139.99

We received this as a baby shower gift and Teddy used it every day starting around 4 months through his first birthday. He still wants to get in sometimes to start the music (which turns on with every jump) and I get a kick out of the digital jump counter on the front. It’s relatively innocuous as far as plastic baby toys go and he’s gotten so much use out of it that I’d say it’s a no-brainer for any family with a new baby.

The Cat in the Hat, $5.90

A classic in every kid’s book collection!

Munchkin Mozart music cube, $24.99

The buttons on this toy set off five different instruments used to create eight Mozart masterpieces and it’s a relatively enjoyable listen compared to so many other singing toys. Great for newborn tummy time all the way through one year.

Keds sneakers, $31.95

Apparently all I wanted to wear as a toddler was a floral dress and a red pair of Keds. My mom gave me a pair of red Keds for Teddy at my baby shower and I get such a kick out of seeing them on him! So sweet in any size.
