HALL BATHROOM REMODEL UPDATE #3

I finally have a little more progress to share from our hall bathroom remodel! If you’re just tuning in, you can see the before pictures and plans here, the first update here, and the second update here. The big update this week is that the custom vanity arrived and probably 90% of the tile work has wrapped up, so now we’re just waiting on countertops, plumbing, and electrical work before we get to move on to the fun stuff (i.e. the wallpaper!!!). This week I also ordered two of these affordable mirrors, these knobs for the vanity, and this affordable shower curtain so I’m eager for those to arrive so I can make sure they’re right for the space. We’ve already received the ceiling fixture, the sconce, and the most gorgeous monogrammed towels so I’m excited to see it all start coming together hopefully in the next week or so!

Ignore the splotches left behind by the old mirror — this wall will be sanded down and primed for wallpaper as soon as the new countertop is installed! The doors to the left open to a small linen closet and will be updated to match the cabinetry on the vanity.

It’s definitely still a work in progress, but all the bright white is a happy change from the mauve/gold/tan situation that was here when we bought the house!

There will be a chair rail tile on top of the subway tile and then wallpaper up to new crown moulding.

The vanity still needs some drawer tightening and new hardware, but we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

  1. What size is your vanity and what size mirrors are you using? I love those that mirror for our bathroom remodel – the price is right, too!

  2. Hi! Love this and planning to renovate my bathroom at the end of April. What grout color did you choose for the penny and subway tile?

      1. Hi, I would also like to know the grout color you used if at all possible, or at least the brand and maybe I can find the color chart online? I ordered the same tile and think the shade is perfect with the white tile! We are starting our bathroom in a few weeks and have loved your recommendations!

  3. Hot tip – don’t put that shower curtain in the washing machine, or if you do, wash on delicate in cold water and line dry. My husband ran ours through the wash and it shrunk and looks a little weird now.

  4. What color grout did you end up going with? It’s beautiful, I can’t wait to see the finished bathroom!

  5. How are you going to handle the lighting and mirrors ? I’m doing something similar with sinks on sides …. I am thinking mirror over each sink and light over each mirror with floating shelves or artwork in the center .

My other idea is to put a sconce on just the one side of each mirror … on the interior side and than artwork underneath .

  6. We just redid our hall bathroom and got the same tub – it’s dreamy! Not sure if you got the same size, but it’s a few inches lower than our 1940’s one, and it makes all the difference.
